I believe...

The world can be a better place. It is possible. I feel it in my bones. I believe that I was placed on this Earth and given all the gifts and opportunities I have been blessed with, in order to create massive change. Of course, no one can do it alone but history is strewn with the names of people who left an indelible mark on us. So here goes. I am a physician. This simple statement cannot encompass all that my life journey has been to get there. Again, the path could not have been any different than what it was. Every flashpoint on my journey was there for a unique learning and growing. I believe in the power of lifestyle medicine to change the world of healthcare. Be it for physicians or for patients. It is the answer to so many ills that plague people. Obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease. Not to mention skyrocketing healthcare costs, burnout, physician shortage, overcrowded clinics and hospital systems, unnecessary loss of human lives. And then there is the effect on planet Earth, climate change and the ethics of eating animal products. I believe in the power of coaching. When we can work on our own mindset and help others who want to do the same, literally anything is possible. Anything. We cannot see the color of our own eyes. We cannot see our own unique talents and gifts. To have someone in our corner, cheering us on but also willing to call out our B.S, leads to growth and liberation. Which brings me to another favorite topic. Money and financial wellness. Material wealth can never take the place of or precede emotional wellness. It is SO important to have a balanced relationship with money. Which means we need to first understand and define for ourselves what that even means!!!! We live in a pool of ideas, values and desires that many times has leaked out of other people's perception of happiness. So many have never taken the time to really, really look at what THEY value. It is so easy to get sucked into flowing with what we see and hear around us. No wonder unhappiness is at an all time high!!! So then, mindfulness, meditation and sitting in silence with no distractions is critical. Nature is another component of this. Getting away from the noise around us so that we can hear ourselves think is important and necessary. This is where we get to know our true selves. This is where we have the courage to own our unique way of looking at things, finding meaning and purpose and learning what brings us true joy. And ultimately, I believe that many of us want to look back at the end of our lives and be able to say .. that was a gorgeous, beautiful, fantastic life...not perfect but delicious nonetheless...
